Disappointing Albums - part 1
'In Our Bedroom After the War' by Stars is a disappointing album. In fact, it stinks. They are one reason I feel like Canadian indie bands can go fuck themselves (though not Arcade Fire, they gave us Laika, they can do whatever they like).
Labels: arcadefire, brokensocialscene, canada, stars

I feel they're a bit of an 'only one good song' kind of band, likely to veer in Travis-like directions.
I would allow a Stars concert ticket stub in a partner's bin, preferably as part of a larger festival.
My word for Canadian indie bands/artists would be 'patchy'. Broken Social Scene, Caribou, Feist etc. etc. all seem to support this theory. Just download the good songs, please.
Wholeheartedly agree:
1. Anyone who got this lobotomy of an album did so for 'Take Me To the Riot'.
2. Saw them live, at Laneway, with a bunch of other bands way better than they were.
Tick, and tick!
I have to say that I absolutely adore every song on Feist's 'The Reminder'.
Stars have always excited me for one song then the next thing I hear is truly dull. Maybe the shared personnel is the reason that Broken Social Scene are also fairly poor.
The Tragically Hip are what most Canadians of my age listened to in college and are too invariably patchy.
Peaches - not patchy, just shite.
Caribou/Manitoba, not patchy but I can't listen to a whole album without my brain hurting and desiring a 'proper' song.
And I forgot to say that I would sacrifice Arcade Fire to Britney, the goddess of stopping self-important nonsense.
'Funeral' remains a favourite with only a couple of songs I can't really be bothered listening to (weirdly, the ones where the female vocalist features). The other one I can take or leave, but worthy of at least a download for 'Antichrist Television Blues'.
