Live Your Life Be Free

In response to Gossy, I would say that Belinda Carlisle's first two albums and one Go-Gos album is enough. I may dare even suggest that in this case the Greatest Hits rule may be broken, because her singles are actually her best material. Also, Come On Feel The Lemonheads has her lovely backing vocals, yet this fine album should not be bought for that reason.

my comment would be that marc has been more than generous on the belinda carlisle issue.

i might be able to overlook one CD in a collection if it was won in a radio phone-in and stamped with a "for promotional use only" sticker to prove it.

really marc.

not least of the problems with belinda is that her songs teeter somewhere in the halflight between camp anthems and football (AFL) afterparty beltouts, and that's just not cool.

what do you think of jimmy somerville?

Don't be ridiculous. Jimmy Sommerville/Bronski Beat are shite.

Hmm, I feel a tad out of the Embarrassing LPs club, seeing as you guys have that whole 'we' and 'us' thing going - and quite nicely too, I might and have added - but I'm never one easily put off by such matters and feel the need to make my voice heard.

I'm impressed! I'm impressed that you've spelled embarrassing correctly and even more impressed by the fact that you haven't resorted to adding an apostrophe after the 'p' in LP in order to pluralise.

Points scored.

However, I'm a bit disappointed in the fact that I haven't had anything to contribute regarding my own opinion to things you've written. Until now.

Belinda Carlisle was one of my early on crushes and although I agree with whoever said her singles are the best part about her music, I am overwhelmed by feelings when I say her music videos were - and continue to be, thanks to the DVD format - the best thing about her music. Forget the songs, forget owning, renting, stealing, pirating, smuggling, dealing her CDs; video clips, people and you don't even need the sound turned on. That's why Belinda made a dent in the scene and not because of some Stock, Aitken, Waterman type semi-hits, and I include her time with the GoGo's [apostrophe deliberately included] or, as I like to call it, Fatty BC time.

La, la, la, la.
