Jangly guitar angst

Grunge. Something must be said about the grunge movement. Something will be said about the grunge movement.

But for now I will merely state that I was always more on the side of Smashing Pumpkins than any of the jangly West Coast guitar noise merchants.

Which means that my attitude towards grunge is complex and vaguely unforgiving. I shall write more soon, I'm sure, unless another contributor wants to flesh out the issue?

Must say: Pearl Jam 1 CD (Ten or Versus only), Soundgarden 2 (Superunknown and Badmotorfinger), Nirvana can be everything (small catalogue), maybe Superfuzz Bigmuff by Mudhoney. No Alice In Chains, the Green River album is unnecessary, Sugar are great, have Copper Blue and Beaster, Sunny Day Real Estate none, Tad none, Beat Happening minus 7 albums (I don't give a shit how many Beck collaborations you've done Calvin, people with ears think you're shite) and Sebadoh maybe one album.

And while we're on musical movements that were big in our youth proper, I think Britpop will be dissected soon.

well i agree with the pearl jam thing but i would add Yield to the list even though i know you will throw up your hands in horror.

no more than one soundgarden and same goes for nirvana in my opinion, as there is something vaguely "i bought them because everyone else did" about their releases. yeah they had a couple of good songs and influenced a few people, but really.

concur with the other listings but take no real offence to sunny day real estate, maybe one.

and where do blind melon, jane's addiction and porno for pyros fit in? one of each maximum i think, but i might have my categories skewed.

yes. britpop. wanna start the discourse marc?
